In 1927 Charles Lindbergh became the first pilot to fly non-stop across the Atlantic Ocean in his plane, "The Spirit of St. Louis." Also in 1927, the first trans-Atlantic phone call took place, a live demonstration of the television was given to 600 engineers in New York, the Great Mississippi Flood occurred, and production ended for the legendary Ford Model T. In addition, Coolidge had announced he would not run for President for a second full term in 1928. Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig led the 1927 New York Yankees, nick-named Murderer's Row, to the World Series title. Ruth hit his record setting 60 homes runs that year. In 1930, he held out for for a salary of $80,000, which was more than the next President, Herbert Hoover's, salary of $75,000. In response to criticism, Ruth uttered his famous line, "I had a better year than he did."
